In an unprecedented move, Senator Uba Ochekwu, a member of the National Assembly, has promised to finally fix Nigeria’s electricity crisis—but only for his hometown of Enugu-Otu. “We’ve been in darkness long enough, but don’t worry, we are starting small,” said Ochekwu during a press conference.
When asked how his village would be prioritized over the rest of Nigeria, Ochekwu smiled and said, “This is democracy, we’re starting where the votes are strongest.”
Sources say that the senator’s personal electric company, “Uba Power Solutions,” is already receiving funding from an undisclosed international partner, believed to be the local generator dealer. His promise includes 24/7 power in Enugu-Otu, and free light bulbs for everyone who votes for him next year.
Meanwhile, the rest of Nigeria is still wondering if they should buy more candles or just continue charging their phones in traffic.
